The Pre-History: Foundations (2001—2011)
Ansible is the result of a lot of random events coming together, many tools existing implying that other tools should exist, and various natures of things pointing to other things. People’s collective interests in simplifying all of this converged at exactly the right time.
There is a desire to simplify many aspects of managing computers, and the nature of any systems management technology or tool typically extends from the fact that Linux/Unix was not designed, but sort of happened. The attempt to manage that is then a story of abstractions on top of abstractions when we can’t go back and rewrite an OS so that management is painless.
